Miniature Doodle Breeds: Which is the Best?

What would you say if I told you there is a whole world of dogs out there who stay small and puppylike in appearance for their entire lifetime? Who wouldn’t fall in love with pint-sized pooches with varying levels of soft and curly fur? Well, that’s exactly what the Miniature Doodle breeds offer.

For this article we have focused on the Doodles where the Miniature Poodle has been crossed with other naturally small or miniature breeds. There is of course a whole other family of Miniature Poodle crosses with mixed sized breeds such as the Mini Goldendoodle, Mini Labradoodle, etc.

It’s not all puppy dog eyes button noses with such little pooches, there are some health considerations that are applicable to all the breeds outline below which arise from having such small parents. Commonly smaller crossbreeds may be prone to dental problems as the size of dog’s teeth are not always proportional to their overall size. You can read more about Poodle teeth problems in our dedicated article.

Patellar luxation is another common issue that affects the knee joints of very small breeds. Overall smaller dogs may be more fragile and can be easily injured in play with children or other dogs.

The good news is by ensuring that your pup comes from a repeatable breeder and that they have access to regular veterinary care you can look forward to a happy healthy companion. Overall Poodle crosses are generally healthy. Furthermore, the petite pups we have listed tend to benefit from longer life spans than their larger peers meaning they routinely live between 10 and as much as 17 years on average.
